This is really just an opportunity for two proud parents to show off news and pictures of their little boy Sam, but we'll keep on posting information as long as people keep looking at it.

For those of you who want the basics, Sam ....

• Is actually Samuel Melville Martin
• Was born at 4.11 am on Monday 18 August 1997 (his Uncle Jamie's birthday so that's one present he's sure to get every year)
• Weighed an impressive 8lbs 10oz (3.907 kg for Europeans) and had brown hair and blue eyes
• Is now nearly five months old and weighs over 18lbs 6oz
• Still has bright blue eyes but is going blonde (much to Adam's concern!)

The last five months have been absolutely brilliant for Adam and I. Life has changed more than we ever thought possible and we have managed to get through three months of dreadful colic with our sanity just about intact. Sam has meanwhile grown and grown - he steadfastly went through all the percentiles on the standard growth charts and is now wearing clothes for 9 month olds! Being the data freaks that we are, we thought we'd show off his stellar performance on the weight front:

Although he hates the camera (that's supermodel out as a future career), we have managed to get a few (!) photos of Sam over the last few months. Here are some of the best ..
